Topo Layer Lamp
Spring 2023
For this project, I explored form and light dispersion in the shape of a luminaire. I created a table lamp that emulates a quality of light that is warm, cozy, and visually comfortable.
After experiencing physical discomfort with bright white light in a live/work space, I decided to design a solution. The shape of the luminaire was inspired by the layers of a topographic map, and the organic forms that exist within them.
For my lamp, I explored materials such as pine (for the arm and base), and acrylic (for the light orb). The result from my findings and experimentations ended with a visually unique lamp that most importantly, gives off warm, yellowy light to the area it is placed in.
